hunky bassist fred who is socially conscious with cans of chickpeas in his car. chickpeas are a must for freddy's veg meal
on the go whether we are touring out of town, running to school from work, to music rehearsals. this company will be our
sponsor one day...! fred is currently working on documentary on the homeless and food security.

there is something about the ice cream trucks, i get excited catching whenever i see one on the street. they remind me of
the tofu dessert vendors on the bike passing by in small neighborhoods in malaysia on a lazy afternoo or the roasted
sweet potatoe trucks passing by in the small streets of japan in the winter time, drove by farmers bringing warmth to the city.
i love the little song they play as they pass by, they are all so creative in lyrics and melodies! ahhaha
the melodies gather the children and adults. i do wish to see a soy ice cream truck one day...!

His encouragement and mercy, for it is HIm who guided me, led me to peace and clarity. thank you Lao shi.

who would update their journal a month later? i would! :P anyways, while still in montreal, i was looking for a place to have breakfast.
came across a little cafe with bakery and sandwiches. unfortunately, my only vegetarian choice was a granola yogurt with fruits.
there definitely need to have more vegetarian options in cafes and restaurants, a girl like me would tell hundreds others who are
vegetarian to go to these places if you provide a vegetarian friendly environment for people like me. think about it!
then for dinner, i finally got the chance to visit a friend's vegetarian restaurant on st denis. this is montreal's first thai vegetarian restaurant.
so beautiful, graceful and the food is yummy. i would recommend chu chai (means victory in thai) for all of you vegetarians visiting montreal.

yes! one year older now! blah another year of life lessons and accumulated wisdom from mistakes passed. this mark another new beginning.
in filial terms, one should express gratitute towards one's parents when birthday comes. in chinese culture, birthday is also called mu nan ri,
which translate to mother suffering day (the pain of giving birth) soooo, with that said, moms should be given flowers and sweets on
our birthday as a token of gratitute and love. every year my mother will make my b day cake. she is the sweetest on earth ;) thanks mom
this is what she made this year with almonds and mango:

occationaly my dad likes to be in the kitchen, today he made a little salad:

April 29, 06
went to sanko today and found my favorite natto (fermented soy bean) onigiri!! memoriessss from japan. some people think natto is smelly,
it is just like durian, a tropical fruit, or smelly tofu, or cheese, you either like it or can't stand the smell. in this case i love it! used to
eat this all the time! the japanese in my opinion are germ freaks. everything feel safer when it is antibacterial. as the matter of fact
after i returned to canada, i realized i have been turned into one myself! the design of the onigiri package always amazes me:
the seaweed and rice is packaged separately, however you are able to wrap the rice and the seaweed together
when you want to eat without your dirty germ filled fingers touching the food!

April 19, 06
Ok let's pretend i really wrote this on this day ok?! and we are good! ;P as i was working on this site, my snack alarm sounded again,
don't want to go the the sweets route, so: the rice crackers wrapped with seaweed. yumm and not sweet!
i just go crazy once i start my sweets! so this saved me ;) you can pretty much get this everywhere at any asian grocery market.
funny thing is this is a japanese snack, but it is made in thailand, how fusion is that?
April 18, 06
The aroma of a cup of greentea and brown rice tea always brings back memories of japan. So soothing.
April 17, 06
Rice noodles and chickpea curry for dinner entertained with movie Ray, is that fusion or what!?
April 16, 06
Always nice to go to brunch/lunch with few friends. We went to Joy Bistro on queen st east, the decor was awsome with nice paintings
and victorian like setting. This one passed my veg test to eat in a non-veg place: grilled vegie sandwich with goat cheese with
peanut butter and strawberry jam which i stole from my friend's order. yes i like it sweet hahha, tasted awsome.
Doesn't it look beautiful? how can you not feel grateful when you see this?!
April 14, 06
What to do when you are lazy and hungry? Yes, the lazy pizza dinner: Indian vegie stuffed paratha, some cheese, ketchup and sprinkled
with dried parsley flakes and black pepper. Fast and yum ;)

April 13, 06
Nothing like hypnotizing yourself into timeless awareness with watching the fabric of smoke formed by the burning
white mountain glacier incense. let go, let go of all the dramas and stress of life, for they are like the smoke,
impermanent and will all dissolve one day.
April 11, 06
Creating this site as we speak! when i am creating, i either have to have ambient music or a little something something
for a snack during occational breaks from the computer screen. girl's favorite, the tofu jerky snack. eversince i introduced this to
my irish guitarist, he's been hunting them down whenever he sees an asian food market ;)

April 10, 06
I love my berries and banana soya milk shake with almonds cereals in the morning. It is so refreshing!

At dinner: nothing like cooking and watching a korean horror movie at the same time! ( i don't suggest you do this unless
you are a pro like me! lol) and the food turned out pretty yummy!
